I had the pleasure of beginning my design career working with Darla Records, an independent record label that has survived the ages. Together with the label founders, I developed a brand for their "Little Darla Has a Treat for You” compilation series. Over the years serving as the one-person “Darla Art Department,” I designed and published over 200 CDs/LPs/Digipacks.
PACKAGING
We had fun with the packaging for the "Little Darla Has a Treat for You" series. The Little Darla brand was all about a classic California lifestyle of sun and surf. Below is an example of a full CD layout inspired by Sunset magazine.
Along with Darla self-promotion pieces, I worked with dozens of independent bands and labels, including media darlings My Morning Jacket, Cat Power, and Photon Band. Here are a few of the Darla creations:
